Due to the tragic war that happened after mujahideen factions took over, Laila parents are now being very protective because of the extreme gun violence and rockets spreading in Kabul. Laila parents were planning to go to Pakistan for safety and were also trying to get the things they need like books and stuffs. Laila parents are dead due to the massive explosions and now, Laila is homeless and on top of that she is badly injured, no one to protect her, Tariq, Giti and Hasina are all gone, also violence is still going on. Laila is in shock and highly depressed when she woke up, she starts blaming herself but that would happen in part three. A future problem in Afghanistan will be an increase in violence and Laila will find another shelter somewhere. Hosseini main point was to show how politics can change a person life.

I think that because of all the people she cares about quickly leaving her life it will make her break down and not know where to go next. I wouldn’t be able to do anything myself if all the people I cared about were just gone after such a short time. She can’t think straight so she thinks it’s somehow her fault for being in a place where war and disaster happens all the time.

I agree, because she has lost so many people that are important in her life in just a short amount of time, which can be overwhelming and alot to process given her young age. She now has to make important decisions for herself in order to survive, especially with the war going on. She somehow finds a way to blame herself for all the tragic events that have happened to her so far. She’s too young to be holding on to all this emotional baggage.

I agree with this 100%. We see that war has changed her whole life within a flash of an eye. SHe goes from having everything she ever wanted to having nothing. Being hopeless and just lost where no where to go. Kinda forced to marry Rasheed as there is no other option for her and what not. Its really sad her life has kind of fallen apart.

In Kabul the war was getting out of control and innocent people begun to get hurt. Laila's family realized this and knew actions had to be taken, so they started to be more protective of her and even wanted to move her to somewhere more peaceful. Her parents die due to the war and her close friends are gone due to the war and she fighting for her life after being injured. The war could further affect her, her being now homeless could help affect her, and will she take on a situation she doesn't wanna be in to protect herself. Like Mariam who got married I hope Laila doesn't force it upon herself so she could have a home and be safe.

I agree with Kaamnoosh because many innocent lives were lost due to this war. I feel as if politics determine the life of every individual that is living in Kabul. Its no surprise why babi is interested in politics and the history of Afghanistan. Anyway I also agree that Laila might have a similar lifestyle of Miriam. Laila friends are gone due to political power which eventually led to war and Laila who is just having a fabulous life with Tariq ended because of politics and lets not forget the death of her parents.

i agree with Kaamnoosh because it is not the people that are causing the wars it is the people who are in power and this is why the people who live in kabul cannot live in peace and also show now, laila has to fight to stay alive

Due to all the commotion and opinions going on in Afghanistan from the war many arguments and fights are happening and going on and Laila's parents do not like it or want their daughter around it they want to leave somewhere more peaceful and safe the things that will effect Laila the most is where she lives, what happens due to the war and her relationship status mainly wit tiriq .

i agree because laila is trying so hard to be safe and maintain the relationships with her family and husband but it is difficut because the war is separating them or killing them.

I think that Laila is in a place where there is nothing she can do to help anyone. She can only listen to the things going around her and wait for something to happen. She is young and there is constant war and with the war it makes arguments within her house. She isn’t old enough to understand what is really going on. The family should move to a safer place but it is impossible because of her mother not wanting to go anywhere.

I agree with Ghamzeh and kaamnoosh because laila is going through some struggles and alot of stress, as well as she might have to do things she doesnt want to do or isnt required to in order to become safer and have simple things like a place to stay that isnt outside.

Everything has changed for them all in such a short amount of time. All their lives were turned upside down. They were all going to flee away from the bombing but got caught up in the disaster. Now she needs to worry about getting injured or killed by an attack. She needs to worry about all of the losses she went through. She now lives with Mariam and Rasheed. Rasheed is just getting worse as time passes and it will make it really hard for Laila to live. Now Laila has to live as another wife of an already married man. For the rest of her life she will have to deal with a man that seems to get more aggravated as time goes on, and constant war going on at the same time.

I agree. Due to the recent turn of unfortunate events Laila is now forced to mature early. She now lives with Rasheed, who is emotionally unstable and constantly angry all the time. She now has to worry about the war going on outside and not being killed or wounded. She also has to worry about all the people that she has lost in her life because of this war which deeply affects her. Now this is going to be her shelter for the rest of her life.

They were all aiming to head for the hills far from the bombing however got held within the disaster. currently she has to worry about being injured or killed by Associate in Nursing attack. She has to worry concerning all of the losses she went through. in Kabul the war was getting out of control and innocent people begun to get hurt. Laila is now forced to become an adult early due to the death of her parents. Their objective was to flee Afghanistan for Pakistan because of the war but unfortunately her parents were caught in the blast. Laila is badly injured, and on top of that she needs to find somewhere safe to be. Tariq, Giti, and Hasina are gone so she has no other form of protection. She ended up living with Mariam and Rasheed, which hasn’t been making her situation that much easier because Rasheed is becoming more and more violent towards her. She now has to deal with the loss of her parents, an abusive husband who is already married, and a full-blown war actively going on in her country.

I agree with this because what is a kid supposed to do when both parents die to a war and all of your stuff is destroyed you will have to grow up at a young age which is what she will need to do

Kabul is a warzone rightnow. Laila parents were trying to keep her safe when they found out the 2 Ahmed, and Noor were killed in the war. Her parents wanted to keep Laila safe and they thought that their home was their safe place but it was destroyed and both of Laila's parents were killed and Laila was very injured and now she is forced to be a young adult and deal with stuff on her own

It's really sad that she is getting all this terrible news right after one another. I can't imagine how she feels right now. She has nobody really to fall back on. Hopefully she and Mariam can work something out eventually so that they can both be happy.

Everything looked like it was going to be a happy ending for Laila's family. Her mom was happy once the war ended and started to do chores again and much more. She and Tariq were getting very involved together and one can say falling in love. Then all of a sudden the war started up again with different factions fighting among themselves for power. This war makes Tariq get a gun to protect her from anyone. Which is a nice gesture but i'm sure one nobody really wants. We then hear that one of Lailas friends dies in a bombing. This makes Laila cry since she has now lost a friend and her brothers. And then she gets hit with the fact that Tariq wants to flee with his family. Lalia now even more alone is more sad than ever. She lost one of her true friends and kinda just has her parents now. Nobody else.in this war torn state. And then it happens both her parents die in a bombing and she in injury but ends up with Rasheed and Mariam. ALl this happens and now she has no one. She is broken so to say, having lost all her family. She has no safety. Yeah she is with Rasheed and Mariam now who can care for her while she is injured but what can she do now. Just like Mariam she is alone and isolated. Hopefully we see Tariq come back and give her some hope and happiness. Because right now I'm sure she feels just like her mom did when her sons died. I expect a bleak future for her but we just have to wait and see. Comments are closed.
