When I think of Afghanistan I think of a dry place where there was a war. I thought that Afghanistan was mostly a desert but then I saw multiple photos of snowy mountains. I also saw some areas that contained water sources, like streams and a river. Afghanistan has very beautiful greenery, proving that it's not a dry desert. Afghanistan has very pretty landscapes that look similar to some places in the US.

I agree! I never knew much about Afghanistan until 9/11. This is sads because I feel like I missed everything about its "beautiful" years! I've seen images of Afghani women from the 50s and 60s wearing miniskirts with beehive hairdos.

Afghanistan has beautiful landscapes and it shows that even in the hardest times mother nature can come back from war and express itself

I'm looking at the image of the field with a line of trees. Most of the trees have been chopped down. I learned that during the Soviet Invasion, Soviet soldiers would chop down any trees near main roads because of fear of snipers. Evidently, Kabul was known for all its massive walnut trees (I think walnut) throughout the city. Now, however, it's barren, even though it's been decades.

I was surprised to see so much greenery. I don't really think of plants or vegetation when I think of Afghanistan.

For a place that doesn't have such a good history I was also surprised too that there was so much life in the area

For a place that when you hear the name you think of war and dry land/desert it shows life can be born any where even in the the non-life area
