In the musical Annie, an orphan girl starts in her normal orphan world and enters a new world and changes the lives of the people around her. Her journey perfectly follows that hero’s journey template.

This is a good movie to use for the hero's template. I would have never thought Annie would fit so perfectly!

I love this movie!! I feel like this was actually a really good choice, I would have never thought of it. I'm glad you chose it because a lot of people have seen it so they can easily relate to it and they can understand better how the steps work. I like how you were able to put all of it together without using many words and giving the whole movie away. It was as if you were trying to explain but also at the same time leave some of the movie a mystery. You captured the whole idea and I like that, you really understand the process.

I absolutely love this movie! Annie has been my favorite movie since I was a young girl and I will never stop loving it. From the music, to acting and roles the young girls play, it's so great and beautiful to watch. Annie is an inspiration to all girls around the world. As an orphan, she was very positive and willing to do whatever her little heart told her and I love it.

I would have never thought about using a movie like "Annie". That was very creative.

It is great that you chose Annie as a hero’s journey. I would of never thought of that movie. I feel that Annie does have a journey of being a hero from her ordinary life. I'm glad that you chose it because many people can definitely relate to her and they can understand why she made her choice of leaving her ordinary world and into the “special world”. I like how you explain her plot by going through the journey cycle and tell that all she ever wanted was a family that cares for her and won’t just abandon her unless there is a reason for it. (107)

This movie is a great fit for the type of blog we are doing. The way you set the whole thing up was amazing. All the different types of events and examples you incorporated fit very well.

In twilight, and every movie there is an ordinary world, and a special world. Bella gets call to adventure and departures when she moves in with her dad in Forks. She makes friends in the initiation stage with Edward, who soon becomes her vampire boyfriend. Along the way they make three enemy's, but one in particular, James, who's a tracker and won't stop til he gets what he wants. He traps her using her mother’s voice during a phone call, to pretend he had her captive but really just used an old video. She got lured in to the ballet studio but it was just a trap to get her where he wanted. When James started to hurt her, Edward came in and defended the life of his soul mate. They battled each other without remorse because James had already Bitten Bella and was in excruciating pain because of the venom taking its course in her body. In order to protect Bella, they had to kill James, tear him limb by limb and burn the pieces. Edward had to suck the venom out of Bella so she wouldn’t turn, not yet at least. As a reward, Bella got to safety and lived. Her mother was okay and she got to go to prom with the guy she loved.

How ironic I wrote about Twilight as well. I believe that Twilight was a perfect example for the Human and special world. They had so much war with many people, they had to overcome each others differences which made them stronger. They also had to feel the loss of losing each other like when Bella died. But then it has a happy ending when she becomes reborn but into a Vampire. Although you talked about the first movie I thought by relating the other movies to the last movie would be interesting to compare.

Twilight is a creative movie to relate the heroes journey to. Bella literally becomes a new person and she is 'reborn' through the immorality of Edward.

Twilight is definitely a great choice for a hero’s journey. The main character, Belle chose the path of being a vampire so she can be with her love, Edward. But she causes a rift between two factions of vampires and started a war against each other. They had so much war and realize that the other faction should accept a human being and a vampire to be in love with each other. But because of this feud, they had lost some of their falling comrades when they were killing each other. But then decided that they shouldn’t fight anymore and let them choose what is best for them and go on their separate ways. (115)

Twilight is a great example for this blog, I believe that in the movie Bella isn't too sure about the whole difference between herself and her boyfriend as well as his friends. They all also had to get use to the fact that they are eventually going to have to get used to everything that happens in the real world.

I also agree with using Twilight. It's something I would've never thought about using as a primary source. You're very creative. Relating it to a hero's journey because it has to do with so much war with a lot of different people and how life changing but amazing it was to see a character turn into a Vampire.

How I will relate to Platoon is by Twilight. In Twilight Bella had a major crush on this Man named Edward. Edward was a vampire, but belle didn't know. They became more in love with each other. Before they became in love Bella would somehow get herself in trouble, and than suddenly Edward would appear and save her. She knew then that something was up with Edward and wanted to find out what. She did research and found that he was a vampire but didn't care. They had many memories ups and downs but still remained loyal to one another. Time passed and Bella became pregnant, the pregnancy was really bad. Edward thought she had a monster inside her and wanted her to get rid of the baby. Bella refused so kill her baby, which she thought that was innocent so they had tension between each other. Edward didn't want to loose Bella over "It". In time Edward can start to hear the baby's thought in Bella stomach and began to grew love. Bella had to give birth, the birth was very complicated and her body couldn't take it. They saved the baby but not her. Edward couldn't cope with the loss of Bella, so he tried sticking his venom in her and bites her to turn her into a Vampire. In a way Bella was sacrificing her life for the baby, and not consulting it with Edward. At the end of the story they all find peace because Bella ends up awakening and becoming a vampire. They all will never forget the sadness they felt, but also the strength they had to put up to deal with their surroundings.

Kaneki is dying so in the hospital they put Rize's organs inside of Kaneki who has a chance a surviving. so Kaneki becomes a half ghoul and is unable to do what needs to be done in order to survive, eating humans. so he has to learn from Kuzen how to survive. Kaneki then ends up getting kid napped by a ghoul named Jason. Kaneki goes insane nearly dying (again). he then kills Jason and frees himself

I believe a good example of the hero’s journey is ‘The legend of Zelda the wind waker.” Why I believe this is good example is because the game starts off on link’s birth day and his sister waking him up, but later that day a huge bird of the name Helmaroc King kidnaps your sister while you are on a bridge crossing. This is the call for adventure for link, but before he leaves the village elder, gives him a sword and finishes giving link a lesson, and right before link sets off with the pirates to get to Forsaken Fortress (the birds location) link’s grandmother, gives the family shield and whishes him good luck. When link eventually fights through the fortress to get to the top to free his sister, he fights the bird and the bird’s master eventually appears, an orders the bird to throw link off the top into the water, in this moment link finds out that there is more to this kidnapping than he thought. After waking up he finds himself in a magic boat, which helps him and guides him on his quest. Eventually link travels back to the Forsaken Fortress and destroys the bird and frees his sister, and another girl that has similar qualities, that then leads you to learn that the bird belonged to Gannondorf and he sent the bird to capture princess Zelda. So you go through various of temples and find new items, that will aid your quest while defeating the monster that is causing issues in the temples. Right before your about to fight Gannondorf, you obtain the awesome power of the triforce, which helps you defeat Gannondorf, after that you are treated like a great hero. (Words 289)

I picked the movie Tarzan, in the movie a boy’s parents are killed in a jungle and an ape finds him and takes him in as her own child. The character Tarzan goes through the monomyth cycle, his very first call to adventure would be when he wants to hang out with the other ape kids and they tell him he has to get a hair off of the tail of an elephant, Tarzan accepts the challenge and succeeds because he wants to blend in with everyone else even though he is human he wanted to prove that he can do anything they do. Tarzan along this journey to trying to blend in with the ape family had his ape mother Kala who always defended him and would always tell him that his is no different than the other children, she becomes almost like his mentor and one of his companions. The point in the movie where Tarzan had left his “usual” world when he meet Jane, and they started to teach him how to walk and talk and dress like a human and not an Ape, and even though his mother Kala had told him not to go he still continued because it interested him. Tarzan at first has many difficulties’ learning these things that Jane wants to teach him. In the process Tarzans Ape father had told him not to trust these people and they battled each other mentally because his father felt they were in trouble, but Tarzan is dazzled by Jane’s beauty until his family is captured by humans and almost shipped off in a boat but Tarzan wouldn’t let this happen so he comes up with a plan to escape and in the process his father gets hurt and even though they didn’t get along this broke Tarzans heart when he died but the family was passed down to him and he is reborn a stronger character because of this adventure.(326.)

Tarzan is one of my favorite animated films of all time. The death of his father was heartbreaking and it showed how terrorizing it is to lose the only thing you have in life and have to do things on your own without them. Once Jane stepped into Tarzan's life, I can see how it changed him in a way to look at the bigger picture but still have his father in his heart.

A film that I chose as a hero’s journey is Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Theif. The film was about a teenager name Perseus “Percy” Jackson who has ADHD and dyslexia. But things changes for him when he discovered that he is a demigod and the son of Poseidon, and that beings from the underworld are coming after him where he also learns that he has been accuse of stealing Zeus’ Lightning Bolt and has to return it or else the Gods will start a war against the mortals. His call to adventure is when his mother is kidnap by Hades, king of the underworld and Percy’s uncle, and the only way he can get his mother back is to deliver the Lightning Bolt to him. His guiding mentor is Chiron, a Sentar who trains Percy in the ways of being a demigod and guides him on how to handle dangerous situations that he will come across in the future. Percy stays in Camp Half-Blood instead of returning to the ordinary world because he feels that he is well respected there and fits right in with the other demigods. Percy has developed from an ordinary teenager into a demigod hero who will protect those that are in danger and save the ones that he loves, even if it means sacrificing himself just for the other to live on. This is one of my favorite movies because of how it relates to the Greek gods. I have also thought about doing my hero journey on Percy Jackson because it's about four heroes that actually go on multiple adventures and overcome multiple obstacles. I like the fact the Percy Jackson was just a boy that had no idea that his life was going to Change. Percy Jackson's transition from the ordinary to the special world is a fun action packed adventure.

In the movie Fear a girl is intrigued by a guy that catches her eye at a coffee shop, but little does she know he is nothing but trouble. Skipping her first period class to go to this popular coffee shop, Nicole and her best friends get invited to a huge rave. Before leaving the coffee she makes eye contact with guy that has her interested. Nicole was skeptical of going to the rave, but after arguing with her father she tells her best friend (Margo) that she is going. When they get there it is crazy, Margo leaves to go dancing. The guy from the coffee shop (David) approaches her and starts a conversation. He takes her to a quiet place after they leave the rave that was getting destroyed. After that everything was going good. Her friends were his and vice versa for his. He picked her up from school every day, and they did everything together. At the carnival Nicole realized that David’s friend wasn’t much of a friend to her, which is when things started to change. David convinced Nicole that her father hit him, just so she would stay with him longer than her father wanted. She stayed for a little but went home later. Regretting her decision, she went back to David’s house. But that was the biggest mistake ever; she witnessed Margo and David together. As retaliation her father went and destroyed David’s house, this then started a war. David and his friends went to do the same thing to Nicole’s house, which lead to there being hostages in the house and people getting hurt. David was pushed out the window that caused his death. Nicole astonished by what happened tries to go to school like everything is ok, but she is actually really hurt by what has happened.

The movie “Juice” shows the friendship between 4 Harlem boys Bishop, Raheem, Q, and Steel they get into petty crimes like gambling in their local hangout spot over arcade games and selling Q’s DJ tapes on the black market for some pocket change. Their small gigs with gambling in the arcade are put to a pause when Raheem (the leader of the group) decided to get a gun and put a plan together with the boys to rob the local convenience store (in which they harass the owner with a local Puerto Rican gang who are their enemies) . Q (who wants to be a DJ) tells his boys that he will not miss the DJ competition for no one, Raheem convinces him that it will be quick and harmless, plus they can use the fact that they were at the DJ competition as an alibi. So after the DJ competition they take off and head to the convenience store the boys run in and are ready to go before Bishop decides to shoot Quelles (the store’s owner). Once the cops pass by the convenience store the boys run out and into an abandoned building where they ask Bishop why he shot the owner, Bishop and Raheem tussle over the gun and Bishop shoots Raheem right in the chest. Bishop is on a blood rage and threatens his friends lives. Q finally comes up with a plan to come face to face with Bishop. Q tries to lose Bishop at a party trying to lure him onto the rooftop which he fights Bishop knocking the gun off of the roof and Bishop tries to get it, Q holds onto him but ends up letting go.

A film I would choose as a hero's journey is The Parent Trap. Throughout the movie it's about a brave and innocent girl at a camp and meets her long lost twin who she's never met or ever heard of because when they were kids, they got separated due to divorce of their parents. The young girls "Hallie and Annie" didn't ever get along in the first beginning but then realizes they're so much alike and missing so much about their own lives and they both try to figure out what's missing. The hero phase of all this is basically getting their parents back together so they can be a family again. I love this movie because I know how hard and confusing it may be for people to be unaware of what happened in their childhood and would want to recreate it.

Wolverine is a good choice to pick for a hero journey. It interesting because I enjoy all of marvels hero movies. You can actually spot wolverines transition from the ordinary world to the special world. He started off weak and vulnerable then he had to work hard to regain his strength to its fullest potential to defeats the person that wants to destroy him the most. The wolverine is an interesting pick because he is a perfect example of someone being reborn and learning a thing or two from his long journey from ordinary world to special world.
